miaLingua offers tutoring in reading for children.
We will help your child improve his or her reading skills by using strategies such as explicit and implicit modeling, as well as choral, echo and paired reading.
We also teach the following necessary sub-skills:
Phonics: Adapting to the relationships between written letters and spoken sounds.
Phonemic Awareness: Identifying, thinking about, and working with individual sounds in spoken words.
Vocabulary: Learning appropriate grade-level words in order to expand the vocabulary and communicate more effectively.
Sight Words: Recognizing common sight words from the Dolch and Fry word lists to increase reading fluency.
Reading Comprehension: Constructing meaning when reading both fiction and non-fiction passages.
All activities are researched-based and presented in an engaging and interactive environment that will keep your child interested and motivated to learn.
